Floral & Garden Workshops | Fall/Winter If you're looking for an evening outing with friends or interested in learning a new skill, take a look through our current workshops. Read through our course descriptions below, to register for a course use the links to the right. Our courses are hosted by the Rochester Civic Garden Center.
All of our workshops are beginner level. The class size is kept small so that we can provide individual attention and help you as much as you would like. All workshops are held at our Store, 2832 Clover Street, Pittsford. Please call us with any questions you have regarding the courses and schedule listed below. Topiary or Boxwood Tree
Everlasting WreathOwners Sue Lang (florist) and Sheryl Roets will guide you in creating a large everlasting wreath using a base of salal (lemon leaf) and baby’s breath (depending on availability) which you will embellish with your choice from a selection of dried, fresh and silk floral materials. Your wreath will last for many months of enjoyment. All materials included.
Tuesday, February 18, 1-3 pm Tuesday, March 11, 6-8 pm Registration: $65.00 Indoor Winter Herb Garden
Owners Sue Lang (florist) and Sheryl Roets will help you create your own indoor herb garden. Learn how to successfully plant and grow winter herbs indoors. Watch as Dick Minoia (owner of Onion Creek Farms) cooks with these herbs in new creative ways. Come, Learn, “Eat Well, Laugh and Enjoy Life”. All materials included
Tuesday, February 25, 1-3 pm Wednesday, March 18, 6-8 pm Fee: $65 Boxwood TopiaryTogether with owners Sue Lang and Sheryl Roets you will make a topiary with fresh boxwood greens and add fresh, dried or silk floral material. These beautiful, classic floral pieces will dry and last for a number of years. They make a perfect gift or addition to your home decor. All materials included.
Fee: $65 Time: 6:30-8:00 pm Autumn CenterpieceWith owners Sue Lang (florist) and Sheryl Roets you will create a beautiful autumn centerpiece that will last through the holiday season and into January – perfect for your Thanksgiving table or as a hostess gift. You will use fresh greens and flowers that will make this festive season special, and you’ll learn how to keep the arrangement looking fresh for weeks. All materials included.
Fee: $50 Time: 6:30-8:00 pm Outdoor Holiday Welcome ArrangementDesign a custom arrangement for your front entrance using fresh greens and decorative materials in a holiday pot in this class with owners Sue Lang and Sheryl Roets . You will create a warm welcome for family and friends that will last outside through the holiday and winter season. All materials included.
Fee: $65 Time: 6:30-8:00 pm Orchid WorkshopOrchids are considered beautiful and exotic, but something of a mystery and yet some varieties are relatively simple to grow. In this class at Gallea's you will be guided step-by-step through transplanting your orchid with owner Joe Gallea using a special orchid pot and planting medium. Bring in your own orchid to repot or there will be orchids available to purchase. Joe will discuss when and how to divide orchids, fertilizing, disease and insect control, and recommended varieties. Pick up tips for easy care and maintenance and go home with your own freshly potted orchid.
Fairy GardenSue Lang and Joe Gallea will help you build an enchanted and magical place called a Fairy Garden. This where it is believed the fairies will come to play and dance among the flowers. Let your inner child create this indoor garden for any age. Enjoy for many years to come adding and changing the landscape of your garden. All materials included. Children accompanied with paying adult are free.Tuesday, April 1 6-8 pm
